Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple is a Hindu religious shrine that is dedicated to Lord Murugan. This is also known as “Subramanya Swamy Temple” located 8 km from Madurai. There are six holy abodes of Lord Murugan and this is one of them. The most popular abode is Arupadaiveedu. This is the place of marriage when Deivayanai married Lord Murugan. Deivayanai is a daughter of Lord Indra and lord Murugan married her after killing Demon Surapadman.

Inside the temple, “Lord Murugan” and their wife are in the divine form of a wedding. After defeating the demon Surpadman, Lord Murugan comes to this place. There are many rituals performed in this temple like Abhishekam, Puja/ Aarti, and festivals. There are many festivals celebrated in this temple such as Skanda Sashti, Marghazhi Pooja, and festival. These are the important festivals when you can see a huge crowd congregation. In the Abhishekam process of Lord Murugan, Punugu is applied to the lord.
