Ranganathaswamy Temple also known as the Srirangam Temple is one of the most well-known temples of Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to the deity Ranganatha (Vishnu) and his consort Ranganayaki (Lakshmi). The temple is located in the Srirangam city, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu State of India. The Srirangam Temple is among the most illustrious Vaishnava temples in South India rich in legend and history.
Apart from the textual history and legends, archaeological evidence such as inscriptions refer to this temple, and these stone inscriptions are from the late 100 BCE to 100 CE. The temple is constructed in the Dravidian architectural style. It has the unique distinction of being the foremost among the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
