Adi Kumbeswarar Temple is a very old and famous temple which was built in the 9th century. The deity of the temple is Lord Shiva also known as Adi Kumbeswarar by the locals of the town. The temple is located in the town called Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District Tamil Nadu. Adi Kumbeswarar Temple is visited yearly by thousands of devotees all around the year. Many tourists from all over the country come here to worship the Lord Shiva and Other Deities in the complex of the temple. Moreover, the temple has six daily rituals at various times from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and twelve yearly festivals on its calendar.
This temple tells a rich architectural history of our ancestors and represents Hindu culture. Especially, the locals feel very proud of this temple and visit daily to pray and seek the blessings of Shiva. Also, the Mahamaham festival takes place once every twelve years during the Tamil Month of Masi (February–March). At this time temple is full of devotees and so many functions happening.
