Ramanathaswamy Temple officially known as the “Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple” is the most popular Hindu shrine. It is located on the Rameswaram island in Tamil Nadu in India. The Temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. In this temple, people worshipped the deity Ramanathaswamy (Shiva) & Parvatavardini (Parvati). The temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar, and Tirugnana Sambandar, have glorified the temple with their songs.
The Mythological belief about this temple is the Lingam of Ramanathaswamy (Shiva), as having been established and worshipped by Rama. This Temple is one of the most prominent temples in southern India.
