Arunachalesvara Temple also known as the “Annamalaiyar Temple” is at the base of Arunachala hill in the town of Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, India. The temple is dedicated to the deity Shiva. The temple was constructed in the 9th century by the King of Cholosad Dinesty. Arunachaleswarar Temple Tiruvannamalai was built in the Dravidian architecture. Shiva is worshipped as Arunachalesvara or Annamalaiyar and is represented by the lingam, with his idol referred to as Agni lingam. The consort of Shiva, goddess Parvathi is worshipped as the Unnamalai Amman or Apithakucha Ambal.
